Art that Transcends the Ordinary
Bonnie Levinson is a multi-disciplinary artist working across mixed media, painting, printmaking, multi-image photography, and performance. Her practice explores the intersections between mediums to reveal what is unseen, hidden, or unknowable. Through layered image making and material experimentation, she creates atmospheric spaces where presence and absence coexist.
" Light, color, and shifting surfaces become instruments for translating the intangible into visual experience. Travels and my relocation to Florida have influenced a shift in palette and form, absorbing regional luminosity, lushness, and environmental nuance, while deepening my inquiry into perception and impermanence. My goal is to engage the viewer to find meaning and connection in their own terms."
Kevin Moore, Director of Liberal Arts Roxbury, curated the exhibition at Roxbury Abbey in the Catskills, NY. “Mixing painting, photography, and collage to achieve a distinct form of visual abstraction, the work filters impressions of specific natural environments through searching emotional states, registering a range of values from buoyant optimism to turbulent resolve.”
