WATER

UNDERWATER?

Inspired by the Swimming Pool Illusion by Leandro Ehrlich whose installation is on view at the 21st Century Museum of Art of Kanazawa Japan,
I was attracted to the strong painterly quality, the beauty and disorientation caused by seeing the world through water without actually getting wet.

THE FRAGMENTED SEA: ALASKA POLE

"There’s something about water that attracts me over and over again." This series was taken while on a small boat in the Inside Passage between Juno and Sitka, Alaska, where I felt drawn to capture the interaction between water and sky and the inherent abstraction and design that we create as interloper. The dramatic contrast of colors play on the dichotomy of light and dark that is found within both water and sky, and the abstraction that becomes an object once it is a reflection on the water." It reveals the character of nature and the dynamic relationship between our environment and ourselves. The large installation consists of ten individual photographs created as one piece on archival dye infused pigment on aluminum. Available as individual photographs, as well. Made to order in desired size.
